Winter Hairloss
Autumn and winter is the season when trees shed their leaves so also our body tends to shed hair during this period. Though a little hair fall is natural and will subside with time but care can be taken to ensure healthy hair during this season. Winter can play havoc with your hair, the dry weather can make your hair extremely dry and coarse. The hair becomes brittle and lacks moisture, it looks dull and lifeless. The chances of breakage are also high because even brushing dry hair can cause breakage.
Care during winter:
1) Heated instruments - Hot irons, blow dryer and curling/ crimping instruments are a complete no during winter. These instruments further harm brittle, dry and damaged hair. If you cannot do without your dryer then use a hot style serum on your strands before styling. It’s a good idea to switch the dryer to cool setting . While this may take longer it will do less damage to your hair. Also avoid hot water while shampooing, use lukewarm water and if you can bear the chill then cold water is best for your hair.
2) Wet hair – Never go outside with wet hair, although you are unlikely to catch pneumonia if you walk out with wet hair. But you will definitely run the risk of hair breakage. Even if your hair is dry, it’s a good idea to keep it covered with a cap or scarf rather than letting it blow about in the cold wind.
3) Trimming - Go for regular trims throughout the year and especially during winter because hair tends to split during winter due to dryness. You need not reduce the length but a good trim every two months will prevent the onset of split ends. If you ignore split ends they will grow all the way up to your hair roots, so cut it before it climbs up.
