Winter Hair Care

Winter season can play havoc with your hair, the dry weather can make your hair extremely dry and coarse. The hair becomes brittle and lacks moisture, it looks dull and lifeless. The chances of breakage are also high because even brushing dry hair can cause breakage. It is important to take care of your hair during this time of the year.

1) Do not shampoo your hair frequently since it rips the hair of its natural oil, your hair is already dry and frequent shampooing will dry the scalp further.

2) Use a conditoner everyday, moist your hair and apply the conditioner, also use a leave – in conditioner if you go outdoors. Conditioners which claim of “Replenishing” your hair are perfect for this season.

3) Do not wash your hair with hot water, use warm water since heat can dry out your hair and skin.

4) Never use a hair dryer or any electric instrument like curler or flat iron, these instruments will damage your fragile hair and cause breakage.

5) Massage your hair with oil at least once in a week, this will stimulate blood circulation and activate the natural oil glands of the scalp. You can use soothing aromatherapy oils for massage; Mix 2 drops of Geranium oil,2 drops of Lavender oil and 2 drops of Rosemary oil to 4-5 teaspoons of Jojoba oil. Jojoba is a very stable oil and doesn’t contain glyceriodes,it has very little fatty acids.Unfortunately it is a very expensive oil but it makes the hair look healthy and lustrous.

6) Trim your hair to avoid any split ends moreover the tip is weaker than the root so it makes sense to trim it.
Apart from home care nutrition is the key to healthy hair during winter, so a hair-friendly diet should emphasize proteins, iron, zinc, sulfur, and Vitamin C, Vitamin B-Complex and essential fatty acids.
