Winter Care for Lips
With the onset of winter, it is important to care for your skin but don’t ignore your lips. They too need attention and tender loving care, for they are the most prominent features of your face. Lips generally help us realize the onset of winter. If you find them excessively chapped or dry, check your intake of foods rich in Vitamin B. Feast on sprouts, yoghurt’s, veggies and oats.
During winter even lipstick can dry your lips apart from the weather and climatic conditions. Nothing looks awful than dry chapped lips with lipstick that feathers due to dryness. You might feel like licking your lips to moisten them but don’t do that, it will further dry out your lips.
Here are few remedies for healthy lips the natural way -
1) Lip Balm - Take 2 teaspoons each of pumpkin paste, almond oil (non perfumed) and milk. Put it in a hand blender and make a thick paste, store it in a refrigerator and apply 2 -3 times in a day. Discard it after a week.
2) Lip gloss - Mix 2 teaspoons of honey, almond oil, Vitamin E oil, strawberry pulp (sieved) and apply this as a lip gloss. Store it in a refrigerator, it stays upto a week.
3) Lip brightener – Blend equal proportions of orange pulp and honey and apply on your lips everyday, its ok to swallow it since it is edible.
It is good to use a glossy lipstick during winter instead of matte since matte lipsticks dry out the lips. No matter how much the brand boasts about the moisture content if your lips are not nourished it will further dry them. A thumb rule to winter care is to apply lip balm before wearing your lipstick, dab the excess balm with a tissue paper.
