What Is Skin Brushing

Skin brushing releases toxins from the body by the gentle stimulation of the skin’s surface. We share the technique of skin brushing that you can do it yourself at home. All you need is some aromatherapy oils, nail brush and a loofah.

Here, we shall discuss about skin brushing for the arms and upper arm area. Firstly, start with brushing your skin gently with a nail brush, cover the entire arms and lift your hand to cover the under side of the arms. Now, slowly increase the pressure and brush the entire area all over again.

It is essential to activate the lymph glands since they are solely responsible for detoxifying the system. The brushing strokes should be outward so as to throw away toxins from the body. This technique when followed regularly in combination with aromatic oils can also help in reducing excess fat on the upper arms.

Massaging the upper arms with Juniper berry and Lemongrass oil is perfect for improving the condition of your skin and for getting rid of toxins. Coming back to the brushing technique, once you are done with the skin brushing, follow it up with a hot oil massage, you can use olive oil as the base oil and add some essential aromatherapy oils. Here, we have given the list of aroma oil blends that are perfect for your skin.

Choose any of the below mentioned blends for massaging.

1 drop Vertivert oil
1 drop Sandalwood oil
2 drops Lemon or Bergamot oil mixed with a base oil like Olive or Jojoba. You can also use beeswax to prepare an emollient cream that can be massaged into the arms in the night.

1 Tablespoon white carrier oil
1 Tea spoon Wheatgerm oil
1 Teaspoon Jajoba oil
4 drops Lavender oil
3 drops Geranium oil
3 drops Orange oil

After massaging the oil, leave it on for at least an hour and then go for a bath. Do not use a soap, instead use a body wash with a loofah, the scrubbing action of loofah will make your entire skin soft and smooth to touch.

Skin brushing is becoming popular at spa’s and has caught the fancy of many.
