Vitamins for Healthy Hair
Hair care is a vast concept and has many theories attached to it, some are age old remedies while others are based on studies and experiment. One such invention is the importance of vitamins for healthy hair, though the effects are slow but the results are amazing. When starting a treatment with Vitamins patience is the key. Vitamins are one of the most essential nutrients of the body.
Vitamins are of two types, fat soluble and non-soluble, the former gets flushed out of the body hence a regular intake of the same is required, the latter stays in the body for longer but that does not mean that your body wont need it at all.
Vitamins are not formed or produced in the body as a result you need to supply it through natural sources like fruits and vegetables. The Vitamins that are required for healthy hair are Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and the family of B Vitamins like B3, B5, B6 and B12.
Let’s look at each type of vitamin and the function it performs in improving the hair.
Vitamin A – Vitamin A is good antioxidant and helps in the production of healthy sebum. It is available in the food like meat, eggs, cabbage, apricot, spinach and milk.
Vitamin C – Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant and helps and is good for both hair and skin. It is available in citrus fruits like oranges, strawberries, pineapple and vegetables like greens and potatoes.
Vitamin E – This vitamin also acts as an antioxidant and has anti inflammatory properties. It also helps in improving the blood circulation in scalp. Tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, nuts and soybeans are a good source of Vitamin E.
Vitamin B – The family of B Complex is good for hair and is available in fish, poultry, milk and whole grains.
