Vintage Hairstyles

The hairstyles in 80′s were big and loud with dramatic looks. Most of the hairstyles were voluptuous and elaborate with both long and short hair lengths. Short asymmetrical cuts were also common during the eighties. Curls and waves were also a part of the trend, but nothing was subtle, all the styles were loud and big. The curls were big and bouncy, waves were raised high upto the crown. The reason for this kind of show off was the evolution of fashion, awareness was spreading among people.

Everyone wanted to be noticed as fashionable, hence to achieve a different look people often thought out of the box and demonstrated their Fashion Quotient in this manner. Not to mention, the loud clothes.

Huge bell-bottom pants, peddle pushers and so on were a rage those days. Hairstyle was all about making a big statement and standing out of the crowd and boy! the impact is so hard that we still recall those days.

Some of the most famous eighties hairstyles are:

1) Curls - Curls were one of the most sought after hairstyle in that era. They became popular when African Americans attempted to straighten their extra tight curly hair. The outcome of this straightening effect lead to this curly head look. Almost everyone sported this look, including celebrities.

2) Feather cut – This cut was a little sober and suited all age groups. Feather cut suits almost all hair types and all hair lengths, this style had its roots in the seventies but was a rage even during eighties.y

3) Waves – Waves at the crown with short hair on the sides and back was another style which was a hit during eighties. The waves would cover one eye completely, a very difficult hairstyle to maintain but people sported it with oomph. Head bands were also common during the 1980′s and even the headbands were huge in size. Everything was big and elaborate during the 80′s.
