Understanding Hair Loss

Hair problems are a plenty, we throw some light on one of the common hair problem i.e. hair loss. Understanding hair loss can help one in controlling the situation. Hair loss occurs due to various reasons and analyzing the reasons can help curtail the problem. It makes sense to know about the hair structure, hair is made up of keratin which is a dead protein.

Hence hair care experts often suggestion a protein treatment for dry and damaged hair. A diet rich in protein is also recommended for healthy hair growth.

Hair fall is attributed to improper diet, lack of nutrients, hormonal changes, severe ailments, alopecia and weather conditions.

Of all the above mentioned causes of hair loss, alopecia is considered one of the most difficult to cure. Alopecia is of different types like; androgenetic alopecia, trichotillomania and telogen effluvium. Androgenetic alopecia is often genetically determined and affects both men as well as women.

When this condition affects men it is called as Male Pattern Baldness and when it affects women it is known as Female Pattern Baldness. Men are at a higher risk than women since they experience thinning of the frontal hairline in their early 20′s. Women on the other hand experience hair loss due to alopecia later in their life, around the age of 40′s.

The pattern of baldness is different among both the sexes, while men have bald patches in the frontal area, women have bald crowns. Having understood the cause of hair loss a treatment can be adopted accordingly. Since androgenetic alopecia is genetically determined it cannot be cured with hair oils and the likes.

Don’t fall prey to hair products that offer cure for androgenetic alopecia. It is best to consult a doctor who can examine the condition and prescribe medication for curing the condition. There are some alternate methods that can help like; hair transplant, hair restoration and hair weaving.

Though these hair treatments are expensive, they are effective in covering the already bald patches. These treatments will not prevent alopecia, they offer a solution for baldness.
