Types of Hair Loss

Hair loss pattern is different among men and women, while men go through a receding hair line women get bald patches at the centre of the scalp or at the parting. Hair loss may be a symptom of an unidentified disease like anemia, hormonal imbalance, menopause, stress and tension, thyroids etc. Home remedies can be adopted to cure hair loss but if it persists then it is advisable to consult your dermatologist or a physician. It is good to be alert and check what has triggered hair loss, look at your lifestyle, eating habits, hair products etc.

Sometimes, if you change any of your hair product like shampoo or conditioner you may experience hair fall. Before you consult a doctor you need to prepare the facts for him so that they can diagnose the problem appropriately.

Ask yourself these questions to prepare for a visit to the clinic.

1) How long have you been suffering from hair loss? Is there some pattern of hair loss like; hair fall in chunks, excess hairfall while washing etc. Understand the pattern of hair fall.

2) Is medication causing hair loss, make a note of the medicine you have had in the past 6 months since some medicines do not show side effects immediately.

3) Check for hereditary hairloss in the family. Also if there are any hereditary diseases running in the family then inform your physician about the same. Do not hesitate to get a blood test done, usually blood test and hair fall sound weird but it is required to identify the type of Alopecia if there exists any or to check the hormonal imbalance.

Once you have identified all the possible causes and the symptoms it will be easier for your physician to identify the correct cause of hair loss.
