Three Signs of Unhealthy Hair

Unhealthy hair is a sign of damaged hair. The hair of an individual may look unhealthy due to various reasons. Improper hair care, improper nutrition, excessive exposure of the hair to heat, use of chemicals on the hair,

prolonged illness and hormonal imbalance are some of the major causes of unhealthy and damaged hair. Let us here discuss about three signs of unhealthy hair.

One of the major symptoms of unhealthy hair is lack of luster and shine in the hair. The hair looks dull in this case.  The hair may lose its shine due to various reasons such as greasiness, excessive exposure of the hair to harmful ultra violet rays of the sun, and improper hair care.

The lost shine in the hair can be restored back by taking proper care of the hair. The shampoo and conditioner that you select for your hair should be enriched with silicone, as it helps in adding shine and luster to the hair.

Another symptom of unhealthy hair is dryness. The hair becomes dry to excessive use of heat generating hair styling equipments such as blow dryer and flat iron. To deal with this problem, it is very important to minimize the use of such equipments on the hair.

Also, you should make sure to massage your scalp with warm olive oil at least twice in a week, to that the hair becomes well moisturized, thus helping to get rid of hair dryness. Also, you should make sure not to wash your hair with hot water. Lukewarm or cold water should be used for washing the hair. Make sure to rinse the hair with cold water in the last, so as to seal moisture in hair.

Hair loss is one of the major symptoms of unhealthy hair. You may witness hair loss due to various reasons such as improper hair care, use of chemicals on the hair, improper diet and exposure of the hair to heat generating hair styling equipments, such as hair dryer and curling iron.


It is very important for you to take proper care of your hair, so as to restrict hair loss and increase hair growth. Eat a healthy and nutritious diet enriched with fresh fruits and green vegetables so as to improve the hair growth process.

Avoid the use of blow dryers and curling iron on the hair to minimize hair loss. Use of chemicals on the hair in the form of hair coloring and hair perming should be avoided.
