There are medical and non-medical reasons of hair fall, let us understand the common causes and ways to combat it.

Medical causes of hair loss – The medical causes of hair loss are many like, stress, hormonal imbalance, certain diseases, menopause, pregnancy, child birth, diet control and so on. Though some of the causes are inevitable, the other causes of hair fall can be avoided. For instance, menopause, pregnancy and child birth cannot be avoided, however, you can avoid the other triggers. The first step to prevent hair fall is to improve your diet, good eating habits can make a huge difference to the health of your hair.

Poor diet is the major cause of hair problems. Other causes like stress and hormonal imbalance can affect the health of your hair drastically and they cannot be completely treated with medicines. You should think of ways to unwind yourself and de-stress the mind. Some ways of de-stressing would be like, practicing yoga, meditation, exercise and so on.

Non-medical causes of hair loss - Hair loss also occurs due to non medical reasons like exposure to sun rays, chemical treatments, pollution and everyday wear and tear. To keep the health of your hair in good condition, it is good to protect it from sun and pollution. Use a scarf whenever you step out of the house, this will protect the hair from sun and pollution. Another alternative is to apply a protective serum, this will keep your hair hydrated and nourished.

Hair sunscreen is also a good option, look for one that has an SPF of 8 or 10. Avoid chemical torture, this is a self-inflicted torture for your hair and can damage the tresses like anything. Think twice before indulging in highlighting, perming, rebonding and the likes. They are very damaging and some people experience hair fall in chunks after such treatment.
