There are five different types of skin and it is essential to understand your skin type in order to care for it. An understanding about the type of skin will give you an idea about the kind of care it needs.
Identifying your skin type is the first step towards a glowing and healthy skin. Spotless skin is not a miracle, you need to put in some efforts to improve its condition. Here, we give you a skinny about the types of skin, the ways to take care of it and the ways to identify your skin type. The five skin types are, oily, dry, normal, combination and sensitive.
Oily Skin - This skin is usually greasy and has many open pores. The entire face looks shiny after few hours of washing. This type of skin is the best since you will not get wrinkles soon. However, it has one drawback, it is prone to pimples and acne. Oily skin should be kept clean by washing it with a pH balanced face wash. The greasiness of this type of skin will attract dust and grime and lead to blackheads and whiteheads.
Dry Skin – This type of skin will tear and peel during the nippy months. You will always notice a dry patch around the cheeks or some other area of the face. The only solution to this type of skin is moisturisation. Intensive moisturizing is required for dry skin. One advantage of this type of skin is that it is not prone to pimples and acne but it is prone to wrinkles. So keep your skin hydrated by using a day and night cream.
Normal Skin - This type of skin is neither too oily nor too dry. It does not require any special treatment and simple home care and sun protection is good enough. If you have this type of skin then consider yourself to be blessed.
Combination Skin – As the name suggests, this type of skin is both oily and dry. In most cases, it is only in the T-Zone, which means the forehead, nose and chin are oily and the cheeks are dry. This kind of skin requires special care, your skin care regime should include both the creams one for the dry area and one for the oily area. It can be difficult to deal with this kind of skin.
Sensitive Skin - This skin is very delicate and needs extra care and attention. It is prone to allergies and needs mild skin care products. Skin irritation is a common complaint among people with this type of skin. Use products meant specifically for sensitive skin.
