The Perm Shock

Healthy shiny and thick hair, if that is what you posses, then value your crowning glory. Don’t put your hair through the ultimate torture, chemical treatments can weaken even the strongest of hair. And the damages are irreversible, once the damage is done, you cannot do much about it. So, before you hit the salon for a perm, think twice. If you do indulge then protein treatments and deep conditioning treatments are the only rescue and it may a take a long time before your hair gets back to its original thickness.

Permanent perms cause permanent damage to your mane, instead, go for temporary curls. In fact you can crimp your hair at home, though it wont have a permed effect but will add variation to your style. Save yourself from a perm shock, know what happens to to your precious hair when they are treated with perming solution.

Perming chemicals break the natural bonds of your hair by softening the keratin. The solution reaches the cortex of your hair, which means it has already damaged the cuticle. Not just that, when your hair goes through these changes, there shouldn’t be any temperature changes.

This can have devastating effects since the hair becomes extremely vulnerable during the process. Hair is then neutralised with the use of neutralisers but that doesn’t mean your perming job is done. Your hair will continue to break and form new bonds for the next 2 -3 days. It is very important that you follow the instrucctions of your hair dresser.

Do not shampoo your hair for the next 4-5 days after perming, it will lead to most undesired perm shock. Shampoo can also cause breakage wen used immediately after perming. So ber very careful with your perm job, after care is very important. Use deep conditioning treatment once a week to keep your hair in good condition.
