The Perils of Acne
Acne can be quite a problem if it persists. While the odd pimple is a nightmare, persisting acne can give you many sleepless nights. Great care must be taken to ascertain the reason and treat acne from the root.
The main cause of acne is from oil that is secreted and lingers along the pores. If not cleared out, it prevents the skin from breathing and growing. To make things worse, when the blockage is prolonged, the area is susceptible to the growth of bacteria causing more severe infections of the skin. Irritations, inflammations and swellings are also common occurrences due to blocked pores.
Once acne is formed, you are ridden with a two-fold problem. One, is that getting rid of acne completely is a difficult proposition and may take a while. The second is that there are many secondary problems that might also occur due to the presence of acne, making the condition not only more difficult, but also prolonging treatment.
Acne is normally most common during puberty. Caused by hormonal changes, acne tends to settle down by the time you have reached the early 20’s.In women, acne may worsen due to hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle. Women who take contraceptive pills are also more prone to acne. Stress is another contributor to acne. One of the major causes for acne to spread over the skin is when we begin to pick and squeeze spots that we see on our skin. This not only causes the acne to spread, but also scars the face.
Once identified, finding a cure for acne becomes a little easier. With some care and restraint exercised, you may find that your skin not only improves, but stays clean and free from acne.
