The Importance of Moisturization In Skin Care

Moisturizing is the most essential part of skin care. Our skin can get dry and dehydrated like the body and requires nourishment in the form of moisturisation. The moisturiser enters the upper layers of the skin and makes it soft and smooth.

It should be applied everyday, it is like food for your skin. It also acts as a protective shield between your skin and the environmental factors. However, you should be careful if you have an oily skin. Excessive moisturisation can make oily skin oilier. If you have this type of skin you would require special water based moisturisers instead of the regular cream or loation based ones.

If you have oily skin then go for gel based moisturiser since it will get absorbed in the skin. Moisturizing is required for maintaining the elasticity and suppleness of your skin. Loss of elasticity can cause further damage like wrinkles and fine lines. The texture too becomes dry and rough.

There are several factors that can irritate the skin and cause dryness. Some of them can be avoided while others are unavoidable, they need to be dealt in a different manner. Let us throw light on some of the factors that can cause dryness.

* Air conditioning and heating systems - Artificial heating and cooling systems can squeeze out the moisture from your skin. It can cause premature ageing and lead to wrinkles. Our skin needs constant moisturisation at such places. The ideal temperature for skin is the one that exists naturally according to the season. However, some cities are too hot or too cold and would require extra cooling or heating.

* Sports and other activities – Outdoor activities like swimming, jogging, brisk walking and sports too can sap the moisture from your skin and water from the body. You have to replenish yourself with loads of water and nourish your skin with moisturiser.

* Sun exposure - Sunrays can squeeze out the glucose from your body, so you can imagine how badly it can damage your skin, it not only makes your skin dry and dehydrated but also causes tanning and sunburn. Avoid these factors or protect your skin from these harmful irritants.
