The Agony of Premature Greying

We all want to look and feel young for as long as we can. We make great efforts to stay in shape, care for our body. But then one day, we see that strand of grey in one hair, and all hell breaks loose.
It’s a natural process for hair to start to turn grey as we age. Advancing age causes hair to turn grey as a result of hormonal changes. It is common, however, for graying to begin much earlier. Such ageing, called premature graying could occur due to a number of reasons.

The most common reason for premature graying is genetic factors. People whose parents have had the onset of graying at an earlier age are more prone to getting grey hair earlier.

Other reasons for premature graying are heightened levels of stress, and cigarette smoking. The use of certain products without testing can lead to grayness in the hair due to chemical reactions. If there are too many chemicals in the hair product, they could irreversibly bleach the hair causing grayness.

There are no real ways to reverse grey hair. It is not a condition that can be addressed for a real cure. The best way to deal with this is through its prevention.

Apart from chemicals that colour the hair, hibiscus has the property to naturally colour the hair black. Hibiscus petals can be crushed and used in the hair prior to shampooing to check grey hair. Henna is another option often used to mask grey hair, though not many take to its colour.

Whatever the cause, it’s not good enough to invite grey hair. All you can do is be watchful to see you can prevent yourself from getting it in the first place.
