Teeny Weeny Styles

With fashion awareness spreading like fire these days, teenagers are also conscious about their looks. School going children are not far in the race, they like to copy their role model or their favourite actor/actress. In a quest to get the “hepped”look they often damage their hair, not knowing about the severity of its effects.

At this age it is difficult to convince them to avoid such things completely but a little bit of awareness about the pros and con’s can be of some help. It is important not to be too rigid or strict with your teen-aged daughter/son since it will lead to resistance from their side. They should be able to understand the reasons for your interference in their personal grooming matters, considering the fact that most of the teenagers think that their parents are not smart and certainly don’t know much about fashion.

To begin with the latest trend these days is highlighting, it is a rage all over and everyone wants to highlight their hair. You can advice your teenaged child to avoid highlighting instead they can go for Henna which will give a reddish tinge to the hair and will also act as a conditioner, it makes the hair soft and smooth. If Henna seems difficult to digest then there are temporary hair mascara’s available in various shades, it can add versatility to the look and your child can experiment with different colours each time.

It is easy to remove hair masacara since just a wash will ensure that the colour is out of the hair. The other most happening thing is rebonding, often called as hair straightening. This treatment uses very strong chemicals and is harmful for everyone, it can lead to excessive hair loss. Instead of rebonding the hair, you can advice your teenaged child to iron the hair for a straight look, though too much of ironing is also not good for the hair. But if done in moderation, may be once in a while these heated instruments don’t damage the hair as much as the strong chemicals, not to mention that they too damage the hair but the intensity of damage is less as compared to the usage of chemicals.
