Sun Safe Skin
Sun can have an extremely drying effects on your skin and not just your facial skin but also the hands and feet. The heat and sun rays will not only dry the skin but also make it flaky and wrinkly. So, how do you save yourself from such unsightly hands and feet? The answer is simple, you have to follow a daily skin care regime. Just a manicure pedicure done once in a month is not the solution for dry and dehydrated hands and nails. A routine skin care program is what you need.
The most common mistake people commit is that they get bright summer pedicures done for the feet with an attractive nail colour but forget about the skin on the heels. Cracked heels are a complete turn off and even the best pedicure will not be able to make the skin soft and supple. What you need is a regular cleaning, scrubbing and moisturising. These three steps are essential. For cleaning the heels, use a warm water soak. Add a cleansing agent like a face wash or any other foot cleanser.
This will remove dirt and impurities. Scrub the skin with a pumice stone or a nail brush. Exfoliation is a must for the feet, it removes dead skin cells and smoothes the skin. Follow up with a rich moisturising cream. An emollient cream is what you need to nourish your feet.
Look for a cream that has shea butter, it is the best moisturiser and provides 24 hours nourishment. Never use petroleum jelly, it will only coat the skin and will not penetrate inside. Petroleum jelly is of no use in skin care. So be careful while you buy foot care cream.
Not only feet, but our hands and arms too need care and pampering. So the first step is to apply sunscreen. Whatever be the length of your sleeves, the sunscreen should be applied on the entire arms. Coming back to hand care, during summer your hands tend to get dry because of the heat.
It is important to moisturise them regularly. Keep a moisturiser handy in your office drawer, bag, dressing table and bathroom. This way, you will never miss out on moisturising your hands and nails. This is a continuos process and you should nourish your hands repeatedly.
