Smoky Eyes

Smoky eyes have been a rage all over since quite some time now and the trend seems to be ongoing. It is best for evening wear and highlights the eyes fabulously making it expressive. It is important to get the effect right, else you will look like a “Devil” instead of “Diva”.

The most common mistake people make is that they highlight all the features, eyes, lips and cheek bones, this gives a very artificial look. To get the make up right highlight only one feature, if want smoky eyes then keep your lipstick light, similarly if you want to enhance your pout then keep your eyes nude. When highlighting any feature ensure that the entire face is pale.

To get the perfect smoky eyes you would require an eye shadow (3 tones from the same colour family), eye liner, mascara, concealer, primer, eyelash curler and make up brush. The first step is to conceal the dark circles if any, and apply a primer so that the eye shadow stays longer and doesn’t crease.

Eye shadow application is the next most important step since care should be taken to blend the colour well, the crease of the eye needs to be given attention. Use the darker eyeshadow at the contour below the crease and lighter one above the crease and blend the colour well.

Apply highlighter at the brow one to get the perfect look. Avoid using black and brown eyeshadow since your eyes might look tired instead use golden brown or deep purple or grey and silver. Apply a little eye shadow at the lower eyelid to give the final finish to smoky eyes.

Top it with Eyeliner on the upper lid, you can create a thick or thin line of eyeliner depending on the size of your eyes. Use a thin liner on small eyes and thick one on big eyes. And finally apply mascara to make your lashes dense, mascara helps in popping up the eyes.
