Skin Rescue Guide

Winter is the most pleasant time of the year, it feels really nice to bid farewell to hot sweaty months. But winter brings with it elements of dry winds and weather. When mercury drops it plays a havoc with your skin and hair, your skin needs that extra care and pampering to keep it flawless. Apart from your regular skin care regime, bring in some extra moisturizing formulates for your skin. When you buy any products during winter look for ingredients like Vitamin oils and Jojoba, they have extremely good moisturizing qualities. If a product reads “emollient” or “replenishing” then it is a must buy during these nippy months. Whatever your skin type you need moisturizing during winter.

There is a common misconception about oily skin, I have heard that people with oily skin don’t need moisturising. But this is so wrong, it is absolute rubbish. Though the production of sebum (natural oil) is high in oily skin but that doesn’t mean it is enough to maintain the moisture levels of the skin.

The skin might look oily and will have a shine but the layers underneath would require hydration. Look for signs like flaky patches or tight skin, if you have any of these inspite of having oily skin then it means you need some hydration. Oily skin is better to manage during winter as compared to normal and dry skin.

If you have pimple prone skin do not use strong ointments since it will dry out the skin badly. Ask your dermatologist to recommend some milder version. Always use an Oil-Free moisturiser, cut down on exfoliators specially chemical ones.

Don’t just use a moisturizer on dry patches of your skin, switch to day and night skin care routine. Avoid using intensive moisturising treatments once in a day, instead hydrate your skin at regular intervals with mild moisturising.
