Skin Essentials This Summer
Summer, is the time to cool your body and skin. You need to save your skin from the harsh UV rays, which can penetrate deep inside the skin layers and cause tanning. In some cases, sun rays are also known to cause wrinkles. Though summer is a time to wear minimal clothes, over exposure of skin can have devastating effects. If you wish to keep your clothing minimal, then make sunscreen your best friend. Always carry a sunscreen lotion and re-apply after every 2 hours when outside.
Moreoevr, if you are out for long, we suggest you go for a sunscreen with higher SPF, the minimum being SPF 15. SPF stands for sun protection factor, so read the contents of the bottle carefully. Don’t buy a product that states sun protection filters, they do not contain SPF and may not offer complete protection.
Apart from protecting your skin, you also need to make some changes in your skin care regime. Summer causes excessive dehydration, so supply your body with liquids. Drink loads of water, fresh fruit juices, even vegetable juices are a good option. Keep your skin clean by washing it regularly with a mild, pH balanced face wash. In spite of all your efforts to save your skin from tanning, if you still manage to get a tan, then we suggest you go for an exfolitaion treatment, this will remove the thin uppermost layer of your skin and reveal the fresh new cells from inside. This treatment should not be taken at home, try to take it at a salon.
Alternatively, you can also take a sun-tan removal treatment in a salon or clinic. However, if you are a believer of home remedy, then we have a fantastic remedy. Prepare a paste of gram flour (besan), turmeric powder, curd and lime juice. Apply this before bath and see how the tan disappears.
