Skin Care for Teenagers

Teenage skin is prone to pimples, acne, blackheads, whiteheads, boils and zits. The major cause of skin breakout is due to the hormonal changes attributed to puberty. Though these skin conditions subside with age but care should be taken to prevent scars, marks, pigmentation, pits and open pores. Acne marks and pits are very difficult to remove so it is advisable to prevent them from occurring.

The first step towards prevention is to maintain hygiene, keep your face clean by washing it with a mild face wash at least 2 to 3 times a day. Next is to treat the pimples/acne with some medicated cream, gel or lotion. Consult a dermatologist if the condition is severe and doesn’t come under control.

Never prick a pimple, it will not only leave a scar but will also spread the infection around the area. Follow these simple tips to keep pimples at bay but if you are already infected with it, then we have some simple home remedies to treat the scars and marks.

The scars and pits caused due to acne can be cured with a simple home remedy. First, wash your face with a pH balanced face wash, then apply astringent lotion on the pimple prone areas, using cotton wool. Mix rice powder with rose water and apply it on areas with marks and pits, 2 to 3 times a week. Do not apply this mixture on pimples. Rub gently on the face with circular movements and wash off.

Apply sandalwood paste if you have any pimples, spot application is recommended. Mix multani mitti (fullers earth) with rose water and lemon juice and apply it on the face at least twice in a week. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey and lemon juice and apply on your face everyday, leave it for 15 minutes and then wash it off. Honey is an excellent moisturiser for oily skin, it relieves dryness caused due to medicated creams and soaps.
