Mens grooming has been given importance only recently, earlier men were expected to be rough and the word care was always associated with women. So when it came to skin care, men would prefer to stay away to show their masculinity. Taking care of skin and grooming was considered very feminine hence men preferred not to indulge in any kind of skin care. Though most of them would coyly use either their sisters skin care products or their wives products. Men were not open and expressive about their need for skin care, it was looked up as sissy and pansy.

Mens skin is different from women, it is 20% more thicker and has more sebaceous glands. The more number of sebaceous glands, the more oily their skin can get. Infact mens skin is known to be two times more time than womans skin. This also leads to enlargement of pores and to add to the misery is another irritant i.e shaving.

Shaving irritates the skin and weakens it in the long run, it makes the skin rough. However, there is one good news for men, they have more collagen which means less wrinkles. Men will get less wrinkles as compared to women due to the dense collagen matrix of the skin.

Earlier there were hardly any cosmetic brands were men but with the generation of metrosexual men, the awareness has spread and so is the demand for mens skin care products. Men need light moisturising and sun protection, so any product that offers these two things is ideal for daily use.

A face wash is also important to keep the grease away and to unclog the pores. Due to excess oil secretion the pores can get clogged and give way to pimple and boils. It is imperative to keep the skin squeaky clean.
