Fruits – The pulp of papaya is good for your hair and skin. It keeps the hair soft and smooth and adds a natural shine. Just mash a papaya and apply it on your hair and scalp, leave it for half an hour and rinse. Some other fruits that are good for hair are Indian gooseberry and soapnut. Indian gooseberry has some outstanding properties, it not only strengthens the hair but darkens grey hair and prevent pre-mature greying, it also treats dandruff and adds shine to your tresses.
Soapnut on the other hand should be used as a cleanser, dump your shampoo for soapnut. It is a natural cleanser and can even remove traces of oil apart from the dirt and grime. Soak soap nuts in water overnight and boil the water in the morning, let it cool. Strain the water and rinse, you will be able to see some instant results.
Milk and milk products - Milk can be applied directly on the scalp, it has some acids that are excellent for the hair. Remember, the Cleopatra milk baths? Well, milk and milk products are good for your hair. For instance, curd is an excellent conditioner and when mixed with lime juice will take care of dandruff. It can also be applied with black pepper powder to darken grey hair, curd is a natural conditioner and has some softening qualities.
