Shampooing your Way to Healthy Hair
That we all have to keep our body and hair clean is common knowledge. A daily bath is a routine follow unconsciously. Most of us wash our hair regularly too. But often, neglect while washing leads to unwanted problems.
The hair must be washed at least every three days. This is the standard for those with longer hair. Shorter hair can be washed more frequently. It is a must to wash hair more often during warmer months.
Even for those with sedentary lifestyles, the hair has a natural tendency to gather dust and dirt from around. Unclean hair not only looks less appealing, but is also the root cause for most hair problems.
The most common hair product for washing is shampoo. These are easily available with many brands to choose from today. Select a good shampoo designed for your hair type. Should you have any particular hair problem, find specially formulated medicated shampoos available. Consulting your dermatologist, or even asking the chemist should give you easy access to these. Care is to be taken while washing the hair to ensure the water is not hot. Mildly lukewarm water or cold water is best while washing the hair.
The best way to wash hair is to take a little shampoo in a container and dilute it. This ensures the shampoo penetrates and spreads evenly into the hair, and that it is washed out better. Lather the hair with this mixture and rinse it out with water. The process may be repeated a second time if desired.
Usage of the same shampoo over time causes deposits to be left at the root of the hair. This could impede hair growth. Try and change your shampoo after using it for some time. This will help maintain the hair better, and also leave it deposit-free.
A substitute to the use of shampoo is the use of coconut milk. Combine coconut milk with shikakai and reetha and use as you would your shampoo. While coconut milk cleans the hair, the reetha and shikakai help strip it of excess oil.
Keep your hair well washed always, and it is easier to keep problems at bay. This is the simplest way to care for your hair.
