Shampooing and Conditioning
Shampooing and conditioning
The aim of shampooing is to cleanse the hair and scalp thoroughly such that the hair becomes free of oil and dirt residues. There are certain proper methods of shampooing that will help you attain enviable tresses. Some of them are listed below.
There are different types of shampoos for different hair type. For dry and damaged hair, it is preferable to go for a good brand of egg shampoo or those containing oils like coconut oil. Avoid products which contain alcohol as that will tend to dry your hair further.
Also, refrain from moisturizing shampoos as they usually coat your hair with a thin oily film and also block the oil within. For oily hair, it is advisable to go for a mild clarifying shampoo that contains panthenol. Oily hair should be shampooed more often than dry.
Now, it is also important to follow a correct way of shampooing to get best results. Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb before wetting them. This will remove all the tangles and ensure proper cleaning of the hair. Always try to use soft and lukewarm water.
Thoroughly wet your hair and scalp before the application of the shampoo. Pour some shampoo in your hands and then rinse it softly in the roots and the body of your hair gently with fingertips and massage.
Take care to not over massage because that can entangle your hair leaving them extremely dry and frizzy. For oily hair, repeat the process if required. Now, wash off with lukewarm water.
This process should be followed by proper conditioning. If you have dry hair, use of conditioner is a must to moisturize your hair. This will prevent drying of hair from shampooing, give your hair shine and bounce; and make them manageable.
For oily hair, conditioner should be applied only on the tips. Also there are different types of conditioners for different types of hair. You should go for a nice protein conditioner for damaged hair. For dry hair, prefer moisturizing and intensive care conditioner and for oily hair, a mild and normal one.
Always take a small amount of conditioner on your palm and rub it in the body of the hair and never in the scalp. Massage it gently and leave for nearly five minutes. Wash off thoroughly.
