Shampoo or Oil: Which is More Important
November 14, 2009
“I want to shampoo”
“But you need the oil, dear”
“No oil feels so sticky”
“Here’s one that won’t”
That’s a normal conversation a mom and her daughter. One wants to shampoo her daily, not approved by her other very much whereas the other wants to oil her hair daily, not approved by the other very much. And let’s figure out which one is more important really: shampoo or oil?
But before that, just think about one thing. If you cover a plant with polythene paper and then shower it with water, will it get wet? No. Of course, how can it be? You are hollering at the top of your voice, ”It’s covered!”
And that’s exactly the case with the shampoo and oil. You cannot dispense with any one of them. Why? Both of them serve a different purpose and work in conjunction with each other.
Shampoos are cleaning agents that are specially designed to clear off the accumulated dirt particles, sebum deposits and other residual substances from the hair and the scalp. Every day you are exposed to a polluted environment and you cannot do away with that, can you? So, you can eschew using shampoos.
Yes, they do contain some harmful chemical agents such as ammonium or sodium sulfates (that acts as surfactant and cleanser) and paraben (acts as preservative). Well these are rumored to be causing irritations, and not only that, they can cause serious disorders like cancer and endocrine dysfunction. But organic shampoos are much safer for that matter.
And when it comes to oiling, your hair needs nourishment. If you don’t give him food to eat, how can it survive? Regular oil massage treatments are what improve your blood circulation and the health of your hair. It should be done regularly and it gives best results when coupled with the hot-towel therapy. Olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil and rosemary oil are some essential oil products that are known to have excellent effect on your hair’s well being.
Now, unless you clean your hair and scalp, it doesn’t become ready to be nourished and moisturized. So, shampoo goes along with oils. They are part of the same army and you cannot dispel any of them. But yeah, whenever you go for any of such product, make sure it is of a well-reputed established brand. Quality matters after all.
