Retro Vintage Hairstyles
There is a difference between retro and vintage hairstyles. Vintage hairstyles are ones that were in vogue before the war and the retro styles were famous post war in the 70′s. The latest hairstyle trend in this 20th century is a combination of both, retro and vintage styles. These styles look classy and sassy and go well with a western and traditional outfit.
You can instantly tell the difference from a regular hairstyle. Retro vintage styles are elaborate and have a certain sensual appeal to them. They stand out in the crowd, after all they have that oomph effect. Remember the Marilyn Monroe short retro style.
That look was so famous, that it has made a comeback now. Though the retro styles of yesteryear are back in limelight, they are modified a bit to suit the current fashion trends and we don’t mind the modifications, after all it looks chic.
There are some changes in the current retro styles and these can be noticed in various forms. For instance, the bouffant that was huge and massive during the 70′s has shrunk in its size. These days it is worn in combination with a bun, fringes, curls or waves. Unlike earlier when a bouffant was worn high with an updo.
Similarly, the curls were more defined earlier and emphasis was given on tighter curls. These days the curls have become softer and the idea is to make them appear natural. The simple chignon is now replaced by some fancy buns, styled in a different manner and adorned with hair accessories.
Earlier even fringes were worn with waves but these days they are worn in a sleek and straight manner. Short bobs were worn in the 70′s with tight curls, but this style does not really suit all face types. The concentration of curls around the ears makes the face look broader.
Unless you have a long or an oblong face, this is not a style meant for you. Select a vintage retro style that suits the current fashion trends and your hair and face type.
