Rejuvenating Friction Massage

Most beauticians insist that facial massage should be of lightest strokes for fear of stretching the delicate tissues of the skin. Its true in the case of acneic delicate skin or skin with broken veins – as in their cases skin should be handled with gentle care. But in case of normal, dry or aging skin, friction massage with selected aromatherapy essential oils is very beneficial. It tones the underlying muscles, keeping them in good shape, it nourishes the skin by bringing blood to the surface, thereby allowing dietary nutrients available for cell renewal; it rubs away dead skin cells which help to make complexion look lighter and more youthful.

We share some tips for friction massage, secure hair back from forehead and apply the massage oil blend from hairline to the chin, work on one section of the face at a time. Tense the muscles so that the skin is not stretched. Starting with one section press and rotate the skin and underlying muscles, using the first three fingers of the left hand.

Feel for any sore areas, and gently but firmly massage those areas until the skin begins to feel hot. Place the palms of hands on the cheeks with facial muscles tensed, buff the cheeks with circular movements. Massage of the forehead follows and in order to tense the muscles it is simple to close the eyes tightly, and then to buff the skin with palm of the hand.

Begin in the centre of forehead and with circular motion work outwards towards the temples. Before massaging the chin, place the lips together so that the lips are not visible and with the palm of your hands buff the skin. Move the mouth so that there is enough muscle tension and massage in this way around to the mouth, so that tiny lines are encourages to disappear.
