Quick Fixes for Hair Problems
September 2, 2008
Understanding the needs and demands of the hair is of paramount importance in the prevention and remedy of hair problems. Most hair problems can be prevented or easily cured when understood correctly.
Climate plays an important role in the impact on the hair. Warmer places cause dandruff and oily hair quickly. Colder climates increase the incidence of dryness of the hair and thereby dullness. Humidity causes hair to become frizzier and appear unkept.
Many home remedies that have been used over the years are most effective in the treatment of hair problems.
Dandruff: Apart from regular oiling of the hair, dandruff can also be cured using a mixture of lemon and buttermilk. The mixture, if applied to the scalp 20 minutes before washing helps reduce dandruff. To this can also be added crushed poppy seeds, also known to check the spread of dandruff.
Dullness: This is caused most often by dryness of the scalp. Frequent oiling with warm oil and the application of a warm towel wrapped around the head thereafter helps restore shine. Curd can also be used on the scalp to produce similar effects. Left in the hair for about fifteen minutes before washing, it brings volume and shine to the hair.
Split ends: These are mostly checked with regular trimming of the hair. It is recommended that men not grow their hair too long. Unmanageable hair tends to split towards the ends faster.
Premature graying: Crushed hibiscus petals, when applied to the hair and left for half an hour before washing help reverse graying. A dry mixture of hibiscus leaves, fenugreek seeds and henna can be roasted dry before powdering to a fine mixture. This should be combined with warm oil and strained before being preserved. This can be applied regularly, and is known to produce good results.
The simplest remedies are often found in the convenience of our own backyard. The use of common ingredients can help curb the incidence of numerous hair problems quickly and effectively. It only requires a little know-how.
