Post Colouring Hair Care
Hair colouring is not as easy and simple as it may sound. Having coloured your hair, you would need to take certain precautions and after care is a must. Our hair has to bear the brunt of our desires, so it will be very kind of you if you care for it. If coloured hair is not taken care of, they can become dry, brittle and lifeless. Ever wondered how all those celebrities have such dazzling hair? The trick lies in a good hair care regime and use of quality products. Before you get your hair coloured, there are some pre-requisites that should be considered. The first and the most important thing is to get a patch test done.
Go for a patch test at least 24 hours prior to the colouring to see if you are allergic to any of the product contents. There should be no scalp disorders, open cuts or recent surgeries. If there are any scratches on the scalp while shampooing, there will be burning sensation or irritation on the afffected area. Even those with a sensitive scalp may experience this, but there are products that can be used as additives in the colour to minimise or eliminate this discomfort.
Having coloured your hair, after care is very essential. Do not shampoo your hair for 48 hours, post colouring. This time is required for the colour to settle in the hair shaft. Don’t take steam if you have coloured your hair, since it opens the cuticles and makes the hair dry and the colour may fade.
Once in a fortnight treat your tresses with a deep hair conditioning treatment or hair spa treatment to keep them in good condition and to retain its shine and lustre. You can also try some at-home conditioning treatments, for instance apply curd to your hair, it is an excellent conditioner and will add shine to your tresses.
