Plums for Skin

The arrival of winter brings with it lots of cheer and festivities along with loads of goodies. Well, we are not talking about the goodies from Santa but something that nature offers us aplenty at this time, “PLUMS”. Plums are native to Asian countries, however, these days they are grown world over, they belong to the Prunus family.

Plums have several skin benefits, as they are filled with antioxidants. These anti-oxidants are very good for the skin, it makes the skin soft and supple with a healthy shine. Plums contain fibre, potassium and vitamin C. They are an excellent cleanser for oily skin and also work well with acne prone skin. This fruit also has moisturising properties and can be used in facial massage, it is ideal for skin toning. Plums can also be consumed for their health benefits.

This fruit is high in carbohydrates and low in fats, it is an excellent sources of Vitamin A and C. But it should not be consumed in plenty due to its high acidic nature. Apart from consuming plums and applying its paste you can also apply its juice on the skin. Juice tends to get absorbed easily by the skin. Plums balance the skin and moisturise it without making it oily, they also reduce the wrinkles. Fine lines are faded when applied externally, the skin becomes smooth and the texture improves to a great extent.

Plum can be used in skin care during this season for a beautiful glow. To select a plum look for smooth skin and soft to touch plums. Plums that are fresh from the bloom will have a powder like haze, which means that they have received least handling.

Ingredients:

1 Plum, washed and grated.
2 teaspoon almond powder.
2 teaspoon almond oil.

Method:

Blend the ingredients in a mixer and apply on the face and neck with gentle massaging strokes. Wash off with milk and then water.
