Nails are known to be an indicator of your health, though these days nails are an indicator of your style quotient. The desire for colourful nails often leads women to use nail polish but when those colours result from health problem instead of nail polish you need to be careful. Be vigilant about the condition of your natural nails and observe changes in its appearance.

1) Blue discolouration - This colour indicates Vitamin B 12 deficiency or a lung problem such as Asthma. It could also be a side effect of some medication. A blue tinge often means reduced oxygenation the blood which is a common problem amongst smokers.

2) White discolouration - An all white nail can be a congenital condition. It can occur due to heart disease, liver disease or anemia. White spots often occur due to minor bumps or other small scale traumas. Diffused whitening can also indicate some form of malnutrition.

3) Black or dark brown discolouration – A single band of black or dark brown can be serious problem, it indicates some form of melanoma. The colour reflects increased activity in the pigment cells. Excessive fluoride can also cause brown-black discolouration of the nails, while brown tips signal kidney diseases.
