Nail Care
Nail is made up of the same protein as hair but is in the hardened form. The protein is known as Keratin. Healthy nails are usually pink or transparent in colour. Nails too need to breathe so it is best to avoid painting them with polish. If you do paint your nails frequently then keep them off the nail polish once a week. This will allow your nails to breathe and remain healthy, else it will turn yellowish. If you continue using polish without taking a break, the yellow colour may turn orangish and will remain so until the nail grows out.
Excessive nail polish application is not good for the health of your nails. To maintain the natural shine or to enhance the shine of your nails, here is a simple tip, rub a lemon peel on them, also massaging your nails with coconut oil or castor oil will help promote health and shine. Though manicure/ pedicure is necessary to keep the nails clean but regular brushing with a nail brush will ensure that the dirt doesn’t accumulate.
If your nails get stained then use bleach solution or hydrogen peroxide. Dip a cotton bud in this solution and apply it under the nails to clean and whiten them. Once in a week you can dip your hand in warm water to which 1 table spoon of lemon juice is added.
This will act as a good cleanser and will also add shine to your nails. The latest trend in nails, is short length with roundish edges. There are lots of nail care products available in the market, few of them required for home care is nail strengthener (if your nails are weak), nail conditioner, massage oil or creams available over the counter. Dry brittle nails will crack and break easily, hence it is important to keep it nourished with creams meant for hands and nails, a regular moisturising lotion or cream will also do.
