Men’s Skin Care

Men’s skin is 20 times thicker than a woman’s skin and is oilier than that of women. Hence, it requires special skin care regime and add to that the torture of shaving. You have to keep the skin clean since it will attract a lot of dirt and grime because of its oiliness.

A pH balanced face wash that will maintain the acid/ alkaline balance of your skin is very important. Wash your face every time you return from outside, this will keep the pores clean and unclog dirt and dust. Men too are prone to pimples and acne and if you have an oily skin, the problem can get worse. So it is good to use light moisturiser, that is in the form of gel. It will keep the skin soft and nourished and not leave a thick oily layer.

The product should penetrate deep inside the skin to ensure that it is absorbed completely. A heavy cream may will not get absorbed properly, it can also cause pimples and boils. Coming back to shaving, it is essential to prepare your skin before shaving. When the hair becomes soft, it will come off easily without leaving any cuts and scars.

Tips to prepare your skin for shaving:

Moisturizing - Moisturize the skin with an emollient cream, look for shea-butter. This is the best ingredient in skin care and has softening properties, even aloe vera is known to be effective. A thoroughly moisturized skin will make your hair soft and shaving will be a lot easier. Apply a cream and allow it to get absorbed completely, start shaving after about half an hour of application of the cream.

While shaving - Use a razor with twin blades for a better shave, also look for one that has an emollient strip attached. This strip has moisturizing effect and will give you a smooth shave. Avoid using the razor at one place repeatedly, if you feel the shave is not appropriate then it is time to change the razor.

Post shaving - Use an antiseptic after shave to keep the skin in good condition. Look for sandalwood ingredient, it has soothing and calming properties. It will also reduce the dryness caused due to the alcoholic content of after shave lotion.
