Sunscreen comes with a sun protection factor or SPF. This determines the protection of your skin from sunrays. Higher the SPF, better the protection of the skin. While buying a sunscreen, go for SPF 25 or more. These contain the necessary chemicals that helps protect the skin against sunburn.

Application of sunscreen is very simple. Apply it just as you apply your regular moisturizer. But make sure to apply it at least 20 minutes prior to going out. The sunscreen needs time on settle on the skin and work. Do not apply sunscreen and go out immediately. It won’t work and moreover would leave your face looking oily.

Reapplication of sunscreen is also important. The sweat washes the sunscreen and it doesn’t work. So reapply sunscreen every 1 hour.
Some people tend to apply sunscreen only on the face and do not bother to apply on the other exposed parts.

This will provide partial protection and the parts which are exposed yet not protected with sunscreen get burnt and darken. You wouldn’t wish to have a face complexion that is pretty different from that of your other body parts, would you?

Sunscreens are often oily and make the skin look dark. To do away with this problem, simply dab a little talcum powder on the face after you have applied the sunscreen. This will make the sunscreen stick to your face for longer but also prevent your skin from sweating.
