How to Trim Unhealthy Split Ends

In order to get healthy, strong and beautiful hair, it is very important to take care of your hair in a proper manner. Improper care of the hair results in dry, frizzy and unmanageable hair.

Split ends in the hair are also the signs of unhealthy hair and lead to hair damage. Split ends go upto the roots, if they are not removed, and damage the hair very badly. Split ends are more prone to occur in long hair. In case of split ends, the hair at the ends are split into two or more parts.

Split ends in the hair occur due to excessive exposure of the hair to heat generating hair styling equipments such as blow dryer, curling iron and flat iron. Hard brushing and combing can also lead to split ends in the hair. It is very important for you to keep the hair ends moisturized to prevent the formation of split ends in the hair.

Condition the hair every time after shampooing the hair, so that hair remains well moisturized. The hair ends should be conditioned properly. Also, use of blow dryers and flat iron should be minimized to prevent the formation of split ends in the hair.

Apart from all these measures, it is important to go for trimming of the hair at least once in two months, so that split ends are not formed in the hair. Regular trimming of the hair is the best way to prevent the formation of split ends in the hair and to keep the hair healthy.

You can do trimming of the hair at home also. Make sure that the scissor you buy for trimming the hair is of good quality and sharp. Use of blunt scissors may result in more split ends. Make sure that the place you select for cutting your split ends is well enlightened. Also, there should be a mirror in that room, where you intend to trim your split ends.

Thereafter, take a small section of your hair and twist it in a very gentle manner towards the ends. Split ends would be seen sticking out. Trim off the split ends with the scissors. Trim the hair half an inch above the split ends so that the hair grows in healthy manner.

Take the hair section on the opposite side and trim again if you have missed any split end. Follow the same process with the rest of the hair, taking one small section of hair at one time. Split ends would be removed in a very effective manner as a result.
