How to Fight Ageing

December 15, 2008

Ageing can’t be reversed but it can certainly be controlled. You need to know the tricks to bring back the glow and no these do not include expensive creams and lotions. It is merely a state of awareness and efforts which can bring back the youthful charm. with the kind of lifestyle we have these days it becomes difficult to juggle with so many aspects of life.

We often neglect our health and skin and console ourselves by saying that ageing is a natural part of life. But within our heart we long to look young and beautiful. Skin ageing is caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic factors are genetic but with a good skin care regime and a healthy, stress free lifestyle the effects of ageing can be slowed down or minimised.

External factors like; pollution, sun damage and other environmental factors contribute in a large extent to the poor condition of our skin. It is said that 60 to 70 %of damage is caused by external factors. UV rays of the sun break down the collagen and elastin in our skin. These two fibres have tremendous strength and flexibility and add suppleness to the skin.

With little awareness and tips you can slow down ageing. We share some age defying remedies:

1) Eat healthy – A diet rich is whole grains, fish, Omega 3 fatty acids helps is regaing younger looking skin, Consuming green tea can drastically improve the skin since it is rich in antioxidant.

2) Indulge in some physical activity like exercise or sports. This increases blood circulation and helps in flushing out toxins, it also keep the muscles firm and the skin glowing.

3) Wear your sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, sunscreen prevents photo-ageing. If the sun is too harsh then use hats, umbrellas and your shades. Keep your body and skin hydrated, drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water for a glowing skin.
