When deciding a hairstyle it is important to consider some factors like the hair type, whether it is straight, curly or wavy. Also if the hair is thick and coarse or thin and fine because if your hair type is not suitable for a particular cut then it would require a lot of maintenance in the form of blow drying, ironing or use of hair products like gels and sprays. It is therefore important to identify your face shape, the best way to check your type is to draw an image of your face on the mirror, alternatively you can keep a cloth or napkin on your face and ask someone else to feel the shape of your face. Your hairdresser will also be able to guide you in identifying your face shape. Having identified your face shape, you can select a haircut which will best suit yours.

Let’s look at some hair tricks for square face, if you have a square face with a strong square jawline and hairline then the right hairstyle for you would be one which softens the square look of your face. Short to medium length haircuts will be ideal for you with few wispy bangs and soft curls or waves. If you desire straight hair then it makes sense to add height or fullness to the crown and add a body wave. Always go for side parts since it will take attention away from the squareness. Avoid middle parts, blunts, bobs and long straight hair since it will emphasise the square shape of your face. Also try to cover the square hairline with bangs, this will again soften the look.
