Hair Types

Your hair is like your personality, it is unique by itself. Though hair can be categorised into dry, normal and oily types but our hair behaves in a different manner.

This broad classification of hair is essential to identify your hair type to enable you to use the right hair products and take appropriate care. Your hair care regime will depend a great deal on your hair type, hence it is essential to know your hair before you jump to some treatment.

Normal hair - If your hair doesn’t get greasy or oily, then you have normal hair. This type of hair will neither dry out in winter nor will it become limp and dull during summer. It is the best hair type for it doesn’t require much maintenance. Normal hair will stay good even with mild herbal shampoo, but pH balance is a must while selecting the shampoo. Look for herbal ingredients like Amla in the shampoo, it maintains the acid-alkaline balance of the hair and also prevents greying.

Dry hair - It is very easy to identify dry hair, your hair as well as scalp will be dry. The hair shaft, ends and roots will look and feel rough and coarse, the texture will not be smooth and soft. This kind of hair usually is difficult to manage since it flies away and doesn’t stay in place. The oil glands do not produce sufficient oil to nourish the hair and scalp. Dry hair is prone to split ends, the best way to treat dry hair is to use conditioner. Intensive conditioning treatments are a must.

Oily hair - This type of hair will look and feel limp and greasy, hair looks oily most of the time. It requires frequent washing to keep it clean. The oil glands are over active and hence make the hair oily, keeping the scalp clean is the only solution for this hair type. But too much of washing will rip the hair of its natural oils, so be careful and wash your hair every alternate day and use a pH balanced shampoo.
