Hair Style for Oblong Face

Choosing a right hair style is one of the most important factor and an even important factor is the shape of the face. While choosing a hairstyle also keep in mind your lifestyle and whether you will be able to manage a high maintenance hair cut or style. The hairstyle should compliment the shape of your face and highlight its features, not flaws.

The most perfect shape of all the face shapes is oval, an oval shape can carry all types of hair styles with elan. That doesn’t mean you cannot get a right look if you have an oblong face. Infact this face shape is closest to an oval shape. The secret to an Oblong shape is to cut its length, a hairstyle which is too long or too short will create an illusion of length. An ideal hair style for this kind of shape is short or medium length, by short I mean upto the chin and long can be upto the collar bone.

If you wish to keep the length long then go for layers in the front, just around the chin, the layer should start below the ear and end at the chin. Long hair, left open without any layers will make the face look even longer. Also avoid middle parting, as it highlights the vertical length,always aim at creating width.Avoid hairstyle that adds length at the crowm, for example if you do not have straight hair and you go for fringes it will only add volume around the crown which will make the face look longer and will be a complete disaster. Even if you have straight hair fringes should be accompanied with layers.

A style that either curles in or out around the shoulder or chin is perfect for an oblong face shape.It is advisable to wear a side parting since it will enhance the look, a right hairstyle can actually chop off years from your face.
