Hair Problems During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful experiences in a woman’s life, it is like a miracle. The magic of bringing a new life in this world is blissful. Though pregnancy is touted to be one of the best phase in a woman’s life, some of them face various problems during this phase. One of the common problem women encounter during pregnancy and child birth is hair loss. Women often complaint about loss of hair in chunks, especially after child birth. Usually the hair loss occurs after child birth, since during pregnancy a woman has a head of full hair.

After childbirth there is a change in hormones and the increase of extrogens in the body leads to hair loss. Another reason is the hair life cycle, hair enters into resting phase after the baby is delivered, thus disturbing the normal hair growth process. This hair problem usually corrects itself in a few months time, so it is not a matter of concern.

However, if you loose hair during the gestation period (during pregnancy) then it is a sign of worry. Usually hair loss during pregnancy is caused due to deficiency of certain Vitamins and Minerals. It is best to consult your doctor who will prescribe supplements or advice some changes in the diet.

Hair loss is one of the major problem after child birth, however, during pregnancy some women also go through dry hair days. Their hair becomes very dry and brittle, whereas others are blessed with thick lustrous hair.

Whether shiny or dry, this is a temporary phase and will correct by itself. Some extra care might be required for dry hair, like using conditioner, hair oil and so on. Though nothing much can be done about hair loss after pregnancy, but it is essential to be abreast with this information. Women who are unaware about this hair loss pattern post pregnancy often get depressed and anxious.
