Hair Care for Long Hair

Long hair requires more maintenance than shorter one, but considering the beauty and elegance of long hair it is worth the effort. Another good news for long hair is that it doesn’t fall, unlike short hair. If you have short hair of about 4 to 5 inches you will loose approximately 20 to 25 strands, a little longer shoulder length hair will also fall daily, you might loose 10 to 15 strands. But hair that is waist length or longer will hardly fall, chances are you will loose less than 5 strands of hair everyday. Long hair stands to gain in comparison with short hair. Short hair require more styling when it comes to wearing a particular haircut whereas long hair looks good even in a simple pony tail. It is a head turner and the hair will not come in your way, it stays behind the back. Though long hair may go out of fashion but it looks magnificent.

Care for long hair can be tedious and the only constraint is managing the length.

1) Gently detangle your long hair with a wide toothed comb before washing or oiling it. Also while applying shampoo don’t pile your hair up and scrub, this will create knots and your hair will get entangled badly. Apply shampoo on the scalp and run it through your hair with your fingers.

2) Apply conditioner at the ends, do not apply it on the scalp, using conditioner on the scalp will weigh down your hair.

3) Use a good quality brush or comb to detangle your hair since long hair is more fragile. Go easy on hair dryers, flat irons, hot rollers, hair styling products etc since they can cause more damage to long hair. It is difficult to grow out of the hair disaster. The longer your hair the less frequently you should wash it, instead brushing long hair is a good idea.
