Hair Advice For The New Year

While we all make various resolutions during New Year, it is time we make some resolutions for our hair. I have not heard of anyone saying, I resolve not to colour my hair or I resolve not to blow dry my hair. Think about it, you have been torturing your hair all these years, its time to give them some TLC. How would you feel if you were bathed in chemicals every few months? Go easy on chemicals, overdoing chemical treatments can cause irreparable damage to you hair and leave them looking frizzy, broken and just downright unhealthy. The idea is to try to live with your hair and accentuate its good parts rather than moan about the bad ones.

Those who think that conditioners are only meant for special occasions, there is some news for you. Leaving your hair unconditioned can make your hair brittle and dry thereby causing breakage. Conditioning gives your hair the much needed nourishment. Conditioned hair is softer and easier to manage. There are three tricks to great conditioning; first, pick a conditioner suited to your hair type, for example; if your hair is brittle, try one for dry, broken hair.

Or, if you want something that will not weigh down your hair then try a lightweight conditioner. Make sure you apply conditioner only along the hair shaft and not at the roots, as this can make the scalp oily. Third, for that salon style shine, wash off the conditioner with cold water, as this closes the hair follicle, allowing it to lie flat and makes hair healthier and shinier.

Stay away from all heated instruments and chemicals, your hair is as it is exposed to pollutants and has to bear the brunt of your poor diet, at least save it from further torture. Take this New Year Resolution for a healthy mane ” I will not torture my hair”. Happy hair, Happy New year!
