Hair Advice For Long Hair
Long hair care needs are different from short or medium length hair. Long hair is a bit difficult to manage and washing them frequently can be a difficult task. But a good hair care regime is mandatory for this kind of length. Many people with long hair face the problem of dry and frizzy ends. Some of them also complaint about split ends. What many people do not realize is that when the hair grows longer the ends become older. So, if your ends are as old as 2 or 3 years, you can imagine the amount of wear and tear they might have gone through. This makes the ends very dry and brittle, such dry ends when left unattended cause split ends.
People with long hair should trim their ends regularly, in fact, a trim is required at least once a month. No amount of conditioning or moisturizing will improve the quality of the rough ends. They have been subject to so much of torture over the years that the hair becomes dull and lifeless. It is good to get them trimmed, else the split ends will move up and you might need a drastic hair cut to get rid of them.
There is no solution for split ends, it cannot be cured. The only way to get rid of them is by chopping them off. Split ends may sound to be trivial but they are a serious condition. If left untreated it can cause breakage, hair loss and will spread like fire. It can even go upto the roots. So it is best to avoid them in the first place.
Another common mistake people commit is while oiling hair, they do not oil the entire length of the hair. Though oiling the scalp is important, the hair shaft also needs some nourishment and one should apply oil through the length of the hair.
Even while shampooing hair, it is essential to shampoo the hair shaft as well as the scalp. Conditioner too should be applied through the long hair and it is advisable to use a wide toothed comb for an even distribution of the conditioner.
