Go Light on Makeup

Makeup should change according to the season, summer calls for light and subtle makeup whereas loud makeup is best suited for winter. However, there is a line between soft and loud makeup and monsoon is the time to explore this kind of makeup. The makeup should neither be too light nor too loud, it has to be somewhere in between.

Monsoons are usually wet and your makeup can run off due to rains. This means that you need to buy makeup products specifically for this season. Invest in some good quality water proof makeup products, it is a must during rainy season. The first step, i.e. creating a base for makeup should be water resistant. To create the right base, simply use concealer, skip the foundation or pan cake/stick.

Foundation may become patchy and so is the case with pan stick, they are not the best option during rainy season. Instead, go for concealer and that too water proof concealer. You may have to apply two coats for an evening out and a single coat would be fine for a day event. The manner in which you apply the concealer is also important. Firstly, clean your face with a cleansing milk and rub some ice. This will close the pores, follow up with some astringent and toner. Your face is now ready for creating the base. Apply concealer in small dots and blend it well into the skin. Use a damp sponge and dab it all over the face. Let it settle for a minute and then rub ice. Do not wipe it off, allow it to air dry. Now apply translucent powder all over, your face is now ready for lipstick, blusher and eye makeup.

Remember that you can use matte lipstick in this season since it will not run off, but your lips need to be well moisturised. Dry and chapped lips will look horrible with a matte lipstick. Dab some gloss just at the centre of your upper and lower lips, this will make your pout appear fuller. Eye makeup too should be balanced, you can skip eye liner and simply fill the eyes with kajal. A neutral shade of eye shadow can do wonders. The blusher too should be light, avoid bronze, the best colours for this season are pink and peach.
