Glowing Skin

Though there is no magic bullet remedy for glowing skin, but with regular care it is possible to get gorgeous skin. The first step to good skin is cleanliness, bathe twice in a day. But do not overdo bathing since excessive contact with soap and water can dry the skin. However, people with oily skin should wash their face more often. There’s no medication, oil or cream, that can stop oil production by the sebaceous glands. So, your skin might feel oily inspite of washing. It is good to use a pH balance soap and shampoo, since alkaline soaps are not good for skin. For people with dry skin, a mild moisturising soap or body wash works better. Avoid using antiseptic soaps since they are unnecssary and may irritate the skin.

It is best to keep the skin thouroughly hydrated by using a moisturiser twice a day after bath. Use a moisturiser which doesn’t have too many ingredients, 2 to 3 ingredients are good enough. Also do not get lured with fragrance, infact your moisturiser should be bland with minimal or no fragrnace at all.

Always wear your sunscreen to protect the skin from sun damage. A good sunscreen would contain agents that block UVB and UVA rays. Sunscreen should also contain SPF – Sun Protection Factor of atleast 15, higher SPF can be used if the sun is at its peak. SPF is the index of protection against sunburn.

It means that if it takes 10 minutes to produce redness on the skin after exposure to sun, application of a product with SPF 30 would require 300 minutes to produce the same amount of redness. Application of a thick coat of sunscreen with SPF 30 gives 97% protection. Sunscreen should be applied at least 20 minutes before stepping out of the house. And a re-application is required every 4 hours.
