Get Rid Of An Itchy Scalp
Is dandruff making you pull your hair apart? If yes, then read on to know more about this condition. Skin cells take 30 to 45 days to be completely renewed and are shed off daily as a fine invisible dust. Moreover, the actual cause of dandruff is yeast. Though yeast is normally present on the scalp but it proliferates in an exaggerated manner and leads to dandruff.
When the process is aggravated to a noticeable extent, it becomes clumpy and is shed in the form of visible flakes, called dandruff. There are 2 types of dandruff; dry and oily. Dry dandruff is fine and powdery or small in size and is visible in large quantities on the scalp. It often falls from the hair and can be seen on the shoulder. Oily or greasy dandruff is in the form of thick scales, which stick to the scalp and hair. They are a bit difficult to get rid of.
There are many home remedies for treating dandruff. Firstly, you need to clear your head of the misconception that a shampoo can cure your dandruff. Though an anti-dandruff shampoo will get rid of the flakes temporarily, it will not cure the condition. So washing your hair regularly is not a solution. The regular washing will make the flakes, less visible.
However, the root cause, yeast will remain untreated. Try a simple home remedy, this is a tried and tested one and will definitely contain dandruff. Apply curd or lelon juice or milk to your scalp. They are acidic in nature and will help in removing the scales. If your dandruff is persistent, you may need to consult a dermatologist. Sometimes, self help or home remedies don’t work, especially when the condition is chronic in nature. So, don’t wait for too long since too much of dandruff can also cause fungal infection or other scalp diseases like psoriasis.
