Fight The Winter
With the winter season at its peak, its time to rejoice, gone that those hot sweltering days of summer. But with winter comes dry skin, as you bring out your woolen clothes, you also need a skin care regime for these cold days. Though skin care is required through out the year, the cold months require more care and oodles of moisturising, a fat night care regime and voila your skin is ready to bask in the season. As the weather turns colder, here are few tips you need to know about caring for your skin.
Scrubbing and exfoliating - It may sound a bit weird to scrub the skin during winter since it is already very dry and exfoliation may further harm your delicate skin. We clear this misconception and tell you the truth, skin tends to get dry and flaky during winter and scrubbing paves the way for cell renewal. This dull, lacklustre skin is caused due to deposition of dry, dead skin.
Exfoliation helps in gently removing the dead skin cells from the surface and reveals the new cells that are full of life. It is however, essential to moisturise the skin after exfoliation, since the skin gets dry it is important to increase the intake of fluids. Hydrating the body is vital to hydrated skin, take adequate fluids in the form of vegetables and fruits that are high in water content, eg cucumber, water melon, bottle gourd etc.
Moisturising - Use moisturiser generously all over the body at least twice a day, you can apply moisturiser every 3 to 4 hours depending on the climatic conditions. Moisturiser with Almond oil, Vitamin E and Wheatgerm oil is ideal during winter, look for these ingredients. Do not buy a conditioner that has petroleum jelly, for it only coats the skin it doesn’t nourish the skin. Shea butter is by far the best moisturiser for skin since it increases the skins capacity to absorb moisture and retain the same.
