Fight Against Ageing
Ageing can’t be reversed but it can certainly be controlled. With increasing stress and a chaotic lifestyle, many of us have realised that time hasn’t stood still. Though we convince ourselves that ageing is a natural process and part of life but within our heart we know that our negligence has exacerbated our skin problems. Skin ageing is caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, the former one is genetically determined. Extrinsic ageing is caused due to various factors like sun damage, pollution, chemical exposure and so on.
UV rays of the sun are known to break down the collagen and elastic fibres of the skin. Anti-ageing skin care regime is required to keep the skin supple and healthy. Skin care should start as early as 25 years of age. At this age, the body’s cell turnover rate decreases and leads to accumulation of dead skin cells.
There are changes in the collagen and elastin structures of the skin which lead to sagging and wrinkle formation. After the age of 35, pigmentation spots are commonly seen on exposed parts such as cheeks, forehead, arms and upper back.
Take care of your skin, the first thing to do is to save it from the harmful rays of sun. Wear your sunscreen at all time, whether you are indoors or outdoors. An ideal sunscreen should also contain anti-oxidants such as Vitamin C or E. Another alternative would be an antioxidant serum followed by sunscreen.
It must be applied at least 20 minutes before stepping out of the house. Keep your body and skin hydrated, drink lots of water and liquids such as fruits and vegetable juices. Every 15 kilos of body weight requires at least 1 litre of water. Eat and drink healthy and if possible indulge in some exercise, physical exercise or sports speeds up blood circulation and flushes out toxins.
