Falling Hair
The tendency of male and female pattern hair loss is genetically inherited from family and it begins to develop after puberty. It is determined by a combination of hereditary factors and hormonal imbalance. The male hormone DHT – Dihydrtestosterone is known to be the main culprit of hair fall. There are some factors that can trigger hair fall among men and women.
Some of the trigger factors are listed below:
1) Ailments – Telogen Effluvium can be caused by a variety of trigger factors like hay fever, major illness/surgery, crash dieting, childbirth and certain medications. Certain conditions like iron deficiency, anemia, thyroid disorders and so on can lead to hair loss. Menopause in women also causes hair loss which can be treated with medication.
2) Diet and stress - An imbalanced diet and stress can contribute to hair loss indirectly. Though it may not be the sole cause of hair loss. Studies have linked consumption of junk food and crash dieting to hair loss. Like our body, hair too needs its nutrition from the blood vessels located around the hair follicles, if these blood vessels are not nourished your hair too will suffer and start falling.Stress can lead to production of certain substances that interfere with the production of new hair.
3) Genetic and environment – Genetic and environmental factors are another reason for the early onset of pattern hair loss. Genetic factors in combination with lifetsyle factors can also lead to hair fall.
If your maternal uncles have had hair fall you too are likely to have a receding hair line sooner in your life. Smoking, malnutrition, stressful lifetsyles and environmental pollution could contribute to premature hair fall. By malnutrition, we don’t mean someone who is starved but one who is stuffed or overfed but malnourished on account of nutritiuous foods.
